PRESENTATION
The publishing activity of the ANNALES ZRS is based on the traditional approach of intellectual property development and, consequently, on the dissemination of the academic and didactic production of the scientific community. Its successful operation and recognised publishing label, under which scientific and professional monographs, scientific journals, proceedings of national and international meetings, and different information materials are published, significantly contributes to the reputation of the Slovenian scientific and academic sphere.
Through its editorial activity, ANNALES ZRS provides the opportunity to publish the results of the scientific research of researchers of the parent, other national and foreign research organisations, thus enabling them to be adequately publicised and indexed in relevant international databases. It contributes to the development and implementation of (new) scientific terminology and the popularisation of their achievements to the scientific, professional and broader public.
Through its extensive annual editorial production, the publishing house provides individual authors with the full range of technical, editorial and administrative support needed to publish high-quality scientific work in serial publications and monographs.
The publishing house uses the upgraded OJS online editorial platform for the publication of the two scientific journals, Annales Kinesiologiae and Poligrafi, and ensures the registration of permanent digital identifiers (DOI) at the article level. Since 2019, the scientific journal Poligrafi has also been included in the international citation database Scopus.
The basic focus of the ANNALES ZRS is interdisciplinary work, comparative and intercultural studies and orientation in the multicultural area, the Mediterranean region, as well as European area.
It issues a wide range of publications (primarily scientific, but also professional-scientific and professional) in various scientific areas, especially history, sociology, ethnic studies, linguistics and literature, geography, cultural heritage, philosophy and religiology, kinesiology, pedagogy, Mediterranean agriculture and olive growing as well as biodiversity.
MISSION AND VISION
The mission and primary goal of the Publishing House is to publish new relevant studies performed by distinguished Slovenian and international researchers.
Our aim is to achieve even more in the market and as well as external experts the opportunity to publish quality publications in printed and electronic form, thus enabling the recognition and popularisation of scientific, research and applied achievements of domestic researchers in Slovenia and abroad.

MONOGRAPHS
When a manuscript is submitted to our publishing house, it is assessed by the editor of the specific field (see Editorial Council of Annales ZRS) to see if it meets the criteria for submission. If it does, the editorial team will select potential peer reviewers within the field of research to peer-review the manuscript and make recommendations.
In accordance with the call for scientific monographs of the Slovenian Research and Innovation Agency (ARIS), we use an open peer-review process, as the reviewers must be published with their names in the scientific monograph.
Conditions for the reviewer of a scientific monograph (from the call for scientific monographs)
(1) The reviewer of a scientific monograph may be a Slovene or a foreign national who holds a PhD in the discipline of the scientific monograph applied for and holds a relevant research title (Research Associate, Senior Research Associate or Principal Research Associate) or a habilitation to a relevant higher education teaching title (Associate Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor). The reviewer of the scientific monograph may be a Slovene or a foreign national who holds a PhD in the discipline of the scientific monograph applied for.
(2) The reviewer of a scientific monograph shall ensure that the monograph or critical edition of the source is a scientific work. For this purpose, each of the reviewers shall complete and sign the form in Slovene or English.
(3) The reviewer of a scientific monograph must not have been in conflict of interest with the author or co-author of the scientific monograph for at least one year prior to the review.
(4) The scientific review must be published in a (co-)funded scientific monograph with the name and surname of the reviewer. The reviewers of a scientific monograph do not have the status of reviewers referred to in Article 26, paragraph 2 of the General Act on (co-)funding procedures and therefore their name and surname may be published.
(5) The reviewer of a scientific monograph may not submit a research proposal (may not act as the author of a scientific monograph for which the Agency is carrying out an evaluation procedure).
Conflicts of interest are defined in Article 20(3), (4) and (5) of the General Act on the Agency’s expert bodies (Official Journal of the European Union, No. 166/22), which stipulates that a conflict of interest shall be considered to be a direct family relationship (spouse, children, adopted children, parents, adoptive parents, siblings and persons living in the same household or common-law partnership), a direct employment relationship (membership of the same programme, project group or research group) and a direct research collaboration (joint scientific output in the last three years, where editorial work is not considered to be a conflict of interest).
Information on reviewers of scientific monographs and scientific peer review is an integral part of the application.
JOURNALS
When an article is submitted to a journal, it is assessed by the Editor-in Chief and/or the Editor of the specific issue to see if it meets the criteria for submission. If it does, the editorial team will select potential peer reviewers within the field of research to peer-review the manuscript and make recommendations.
The peer-review process of the journals is double-blind, the reviewers do not know the names of the authors, and the authors do not know who reviewed their manuscript.
All the parties involved in the process – authors, editors and reviewers need to follow the Publication Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement.
The publishing house uses the upgraded OJS online editorial platform for the publication of the two scientific journals, Annales Kinesiologiae and Poligrafi, and ensures the registration of permanent digital identifiers (DOI) at the article level.
