Biography:

Tilen Glavina (1985), is the Deputy Head of the Institute for Historical Studies, SRC Koper and the Advisor to the Director of the ZRS Koper. He graduated in 2009 in the field of cultural studies and anthropology at the UP Faculty of Humanities in Koper with the work “The Creation and Development of Bourgeois Press Cult”. At the Institute for Historical Studies, SRC Koper he was employed as a young researcher in 2010.
Within the international bilateral project Slovenia-USA entitled “Witnesses and Testimonies of the Past”, between the SRC Koper and the partner institution the Department of History, Northwestern University Chicago, USA, led by prof. Edward Muir, in 2011 he attended a research visit to Chicago and Evanston. He continued his research training in Venice, Rome, Florence and Padua all in Italy.
In the pedagogical process he participated in the role of assistant in courses: Ascent and collapse of the economic centres of the Mediterranean, UP FHŠ, Level 1st, obligatory course of the study program History in 2011/12 and 2012/13 and assistance in conducting individual consultations in the course: Humanism and Renaissance in Istria, UP FHŠ, 2nd level, optional course of the study program History in the academic year 2011/12. In the course of 2014/2015 he conducted practicals in the Comparative History of Europe and the Mediterranean (17-19th century) and the History of the Slavic-Roman border.
He obtained his PhD in 2015 in the postgraduate program History of Europe and the Mediterranean at UP FHŠ with the dissertation “Hieronimo Mutio Iustinopolitano”: a Renaissance intellectual among Humanism and Counter-Reformation.
In 2015, he was appointed as Deputy Head of the Institute for Historical Studies. Between 2015 and 2017 he led the Publishing House Annales ZRS Koper. In 2017, he was re-confirmed as Deputy Head and appointed as Head of the Centre for Venetian History and Cultural Heritage. In December 2017 he became the Director’s Adviser of the SRC Koper and in 2018 he was elected a member of the Management Board of the SRC Koper.
