3. World Food Safety Day Conference
At the suggestion of the United Nations, June 7 has been declared World Food Safety Day.
On the occasion of this event, the 3rd Conference on the occasion of the World Food Safety Day was held in the hall of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia yesterday by dr. Milena Bučar Miklavčič and dr. Bojan Butinar.
Dr. Milena Bučar-Miklavčič, Institute of Oliveculture (IZO) ZRS Koper presented the activities of ZRS Koper in the field of food safety, as well as all activities performed by employees of the Laboratory of the Institute of Oliveculture (LAB IZO) ZRS Koper for the detection of counterfeit oil on the Slovenian market. She proposed new systemic challenges in this area, good cooperation with the Food Safety Authority and pointed out the current non-financing of some key activities that are essential for the successful provision of safe food, which also includes olive oil.
Dr. Bojan Butinar (IZO ZRS Koper) led one of the sections of the presented stakeholders of safe food.
The conference participants unanimously agreed that nutrition is one of the most important factors affecting our health and thus the health of society as a whole, so food safety is a shared responsibility and commitment of all stakeholders in the agri-food chain.
