ZRS Koper: AWARDS OF SCIENCE 2021

The Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS Koper) is organizing the 16th traditional award ceremony of ZRS Koper – AWARDS OF SCIENCE 2021, which will take place on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 11 am, in the Kamin Restaurant, Belvedere Hotels, Dobrava 1a , Izola.

The keynote speaker at this year’s event will be dr. Jože Podgoršek, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia.

Every 2 years, at the beginning of June, ZRS Koper organizes the traditional awarding of prizes and recognitions for excellent scientific achievements of ZRS Koper – “Glasnik znanosti”. With the event we want to present our scientific research work and reward researchers who achieve excellence in scientific work. At the same time, we also want to promote and bring science closer to the general public.

This year we are recording the fifth year of operation as an independent public research institute and the twenty-seventh year since the establishment of the first and still the only public research institute based outside Ljubljana, which fulfills its mission at the local, national and international levels. ZRS Koper, as a multidisciplinary public research institute, operates in the fields of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

This year’s recipients of the Glasnik znanosti ZRS Koper award are:

• acad. Jože Pirjevec – for individual top scientific achievements of established researchers;
• dr. Barbara Gornik – for individual top scientific achievements of promising researchers;
• dr. Irina Moira Cavaion – for individual top scientific achievements of promising researchers;
• associates of the Institute for Kinesiology Research ZRS Koper – for individual top scientific achievements of research groups.

On this occasion, the newly published publication Glasnik ZRS Koper – Report on the work of the Science and Research Centre Koper for 2020 will be presented.

ROUND TABLE UNIVERSITY AND THE STATE

After the morning program – awarding of prizes and recognitions – we will continue socializing at the same location, at 2 pm with a round table organized by ZRS Koper on the topic:

UNIVERSITY AND THE STATE

Former rectors of Slovenian universities and a representative of the Rectors’ Conference of the Republic of Slovenia (RC RS) and the chairman of the Coordination of Independent Research Institutes of Slovenia (KOsRIS) will present their experiences and views on overcoming the concept of a state-regulated university, innovation activities (ZZRID) and the freer integration of research and higher education capacities in Slovenia.

The round table will be attended by:

• former rectors: prof. dr. Lucija Čok, prof. dr. Rado Bohinc,
• prof. dr. Stane Pejovnik, prof. dr. Ivan Svetlik and prof. dr. Ludvik Toplak,
• representative of RK RS: prof. dr. Danilo Zavrtanik and
• president of KOsRIS: prof. dr. Gregor Anderluh.

The discussion will be moderated by prof. dr. Rado Bohinc, Law Institute ZRS Koper. He will present the recently published book UNIVERSITY AND THE STATE as a starting point for discussion.
